How do I limit the level that may be attained on a ladder?
Use the Maximum Level option to limit the ladder level. This means that, regardless of an assessment score, no individual may exceed the max level set for the ladder. Note, however, that this does not work well for the Percentage Method of calculation.
Why might I want to set the maximum level of a ladder?
For example, if you wish to tie each level to an existing pay grade, but the number of possible levels exceed the current number of pay grades. Of course, another solution would be to add pay grades to match levels, but this is not always possible in some organizations.
Why does a number display next to No Limit for the ladder level?
When no maximum level is specified for a ladder, an effective level is still derived based on the number of points available.
